Ordered my first Laver and Wood - Jules Classic
« on: November 17, 2016, 09:46:45 PM »

Finally I bit the bullet and bought my first Laver and Wood - Jules Classic profile. Anxiously waiting since 3.5 weeks. I was under the impression that they take just two weeks and again I was promised that it will be shipped on Wednesday this week but no further progress yet. On the other hand, I know they were also busy in their public funding campaign and NZ was also hit by a significant earthquake which may have delayed the things a bit. Is it common for them to delay orders? I hope it turns out to be a gun after this excruciating delay!

I will post pics once I receive it.

No denying the quality of the bats but their communication has always been pretty average at best. No doubt you will be impressed with the bat, though!

I think it's deteriorated since Andy left

My last purchase from them, I found the communication 10/10, strangely another forum sponsor who has a great rep on the forum for communication just won't response to my numerous emails asking  about some bats their were advertising if a VIP club

I get a reply within the hour from Laver and Wood. Best service you can get.

I've never really had any bad service from any of the guys on the forum.

I use their Facebook page and get a response within hours. Anthony has been great! I have also spoken to Anthony and James whenever I had questions about their bats or a design.

Laver's service is excellent!

My bat is supposed to be around 2lb 8oz - 9oz Jules Classic.

1. Mid to high sweet spot (concaved at the bottom to make it lighter) with a really light pick up.
2. I expect it to have a big spine running all the way to the bottom and I don't care much about the edge size.
3. Very pronounced oval handle thick at the bottom and round and thinner at the top hand.
4. I have asked for their green shield stickers (I hate their red ones).
5. I have ordered their lower grade (Legend) and told them I don't care how it looks but I want it to tap well.
6. I have asked them to not apply the face sheet since I am still old school - I like to oil, knock and then apply the face sheet myself.
7. I have also asked them for a normal cane handle (no funky carbon/honeycomb inserts in it).

Let's see how it turns out to be. Hopefully, I will get it by next week. Have any of you tried their Jules Classic before? Are they comparable to legendary Screaming Cats?

Amazing finish to their bats. Wonder about the press/factory knocking, perhaps a little bit too hard on the bats I have sampled, so a long playing in required before they hit their peak.

Was my first ever Laver shape. One of the best bats I have ever had and kept me in the Laver family through to this very day.

Ive moved to the more modern shapes but a lot of my players use that shape and still go great guns.
