How different is the protection within the range?
« on: December 03, 2016, 08:54:13 PM »

I have splashed out buying the limited edition GN Predator gloves. They should arrive next week from Vitas. I will probably net a few times with them but want to keep them for games only. So I am thinking about getting the next pair down in the range, about half the price, for nets and outside practice. My only concern is that I am more likely to get a knock in practice as the volume of catches is greater.

So, will the lower range gloves protect me as well as the stupidly expensive ones?

I swear there is no actual protection difference in any wicket keeping gloves, the only differences are quality of materials and grippiness of palm. all the protection comes from the inner gloves.
Unless of course you are talking about the wristy bit, which probably does get worse the lower down the range, but i'm fairly sure Sam Billings tweeted a picture of his new gloves, and he was using the next ones down, and not the k-leather ones, so the ones you are thinking of getting are probably still fine

I think the protection level does increase as you pay more but not by as much as you'd think, generally you are paying more for better materials that are lighter and or more flexible to assist with catching

The 1500 gloves are a very similar spec to the gloves on their way to you @HallamKeeper but the 1500 have some cheaper PU leathers instead of kangaroo leather

Ok thanks for the replies. I'm pretty sure I'm going to love the new ones so I think I'll get a cheaper pair to prolong their life, or maybe santa will.
