What's your favourite pregame warm up? (league game only)

Football
Fielding (High catches, low catches, close catches, along the floor)
Cigarette
BLT (other sandwiches available) and a soft drink
stand around, have a chat, maybe look at the pitch... and sledge the opposition for turning up to their ground after you.

We turn up, go into the changing rooms for some banter and get ready for a warm up.

Quick game of 3 touch football (usually stopped when it's a rugby score or it gets like the FA Cup final...) followed by some fielding.
Our club coach plays 2s so brings some katchett boards along, so we can do some ground fielding, high catches and some slip style catches.

Finish up with the bowlers sending a few deliveries down a practice strip so the keeper can make a few imaginary stumpings.

But what's your favourite?

But what's your favourite?

Go the the McDonald's drive-thru en route to the game.
Arrive at the ground, destroy 2 double cheese burgers and a vanilla milkshake** then get my whites on ready to start...

**fries are optional depending how hungry I am and if there will be time to eat them before the game starts...

If playing at home, quick pint in local then stroll up to pitch. If away, quick pint in local waiting for team!

Savage!

Also, we usually watch the oppo warm up whilst we enjoy a cigarette and a pasty. Then go out and smash them.

Generally speaking if Simon gives me a lift we do some ground work if it's a home game, he will show me his acquisitions of that week hit some balls in the net with it, few catches and a lucozade sport/monster energy and play

Walk out to the wicket, and have a walk on it to check firmness
If playing away, I'll walk around the pitch  a few times, just gauging boundary distance
And that is it

Not necessarily my favourite but isn't it usually:
turn up,
go look at the pitch and give nonsense predictions about how it's going to play,
compare notes on the team's friday night activities over a red bull/sandwich,
get changed (plus fondle bats a bit),
do 10 minutes usually irrelevant 'fielding practice',
make disparaging comments about opposition if they're either more or less keen for warmups than you are,
spectate toss from afar,
insult captain about losing the toss/choosing wrong option if he won the toss,
get properly changed,
cricket happens.

Home matches. Same newsagent on the way, same two lucozade drinks, get there early for a look at the same pitch I've played on for over 30 years, look around for anyone I like-chat to them, anyone I don't like-tell them to get off the pitch.

Try to spot anyone else vaping,if so massive chat about tanks, liquid, equipment. If not stand around remembering how I use to throw it in from any boundary rather than the 10 foot I can throw it now.

Clubhouse check averages if it's going well, check 1995's stats if it isn't. Chat to the groundsman(Yorkshire) try and convince him Anderson is better than Truman-no chance.

Sit in the dressing room for half an hour.

Away games-trapes across London trying to work out how much of a dump the away ground is.
If it's Hackney marshes again change outside with the dog walkers and try not to get a tropical disease from the tea break.

That's it  :)

Full English

Stop at the Corner Shop to purchase 2 Curly Wurlys

Arrive at club and inspect pitch without any knowledge of what I am seeing

Completely miss several throwdowns and take a nasty one on the shin

Lose the toss

Freestyle the batting order by priority of the ones whose names I can remember

Briefly pleasure myself in trap 1

Onto the pitch to blag my way to glory off the back of better players performances

Mine is sort of a mixture of two of the options.

Home games - turn up early because I normally get a lift of the groundsman, so I will sit doing nothing with the odd ciggy thrown in. Then be the last one ready to start because I'm busy checking my betting on the lunchtime football match.

Away game - either be there silly early before any home team players, and repeat the home game ritual, with the joke tap of the watch to any home team man. Or turn up 10 overs in for whatever reason (normally my lift is about 40 minutes late, or in one occasion my train home from Gatwick was delayed by 1 hour) leaving no time for a pre game ritual because I either have to field or have to be next man in!

I think a lot of clubs should invest in defibrillators judging by most people's habits! I'm not exactly Mr Slim either but I can't eat junk before a game, I feel awful.

My old club had very much a sit and chat kind of warm up. I'm far too keen for that so I would try to drag someone out to throw the ball at me to get my hands and feet working. I am a big fan of an early toss so I know what to concentrate on, catching or hitting.

My favourites are using a Katchet board, hopefully someone with a decent arm can get it coming through nicely. Otherwise, if I don't bring the board with me I get someone with a foam fielding bat to hit some at me. I sometimes wonder whether using a tennis ball would be more sensible, just in case I get one on the end of my finger.

I would like to do some throw downs before a game, never done them properly due to lack of time and willingness on my team's part. I did once play a T20 after an hour against a bowling machine and I was on another planet. Could see the ball so well and got a 50 in about 20 balls.

If any other keepers have a good warm up drill I'd love to know it. Far too keen.
