GN Predator 3 LEs
« on: December 09, 2016, 08:07:59 AM »

I was one of the idiots that stumped up the cash for these gloves. I got them for £130 from Vitas, I'm not sure who is going to pay the £180 at Barringtons etc.

Anyway, they arrived this week and immediately I noticed the high quality of materials used. I tried them in nets last night, maybe I'm trying to justify the price to myself but I think they are comfortably the best gloves I've ever had. I used the XRD inners from last season which might reduce the feel too much for some keepers but I found it about right. I also expect the feel to improve after a few uses. The grip is good and although I didn't get any knocks the protection seemed very good too. The wrist pad is very thick but light, I never really care about that, I can't remember the last time I was hit there with any force.

I have asked Santa for the 1500s this Christmas. There is no way I am going to spoil the LEs in nets and practice. I will be netting with the 1500s on 29th (what else do you do between Christmas and NYE?) so I will post feedback/comparison on those too if anyone is interested.

I hope this helps anyone thinking about taking the plunge.

Just a question on the cuff mate, from all the pictures I've seen it looks to be quite short? How have you found it cose I do like a longer cuff. Had the legends last year and it was just about the right length!

The cuff is very square, which I'm not mad about but only from an aesthetic point of view. It is the same length as the XRDs except the XRDs have a rounded cuff and the thickness is very similar. I had legends a few seasons ago but can't remember how the cuff differed. I have a feeling they aren't that much different in length.

Took a couple more photos. Pen line on my arm shows where the cuff ends. I wasn't wearing inners so maybe they would sit a little lower.

No worries, if you aren't in a rush I'll post here on the difference between the LE and 1500 but I really do love the LEs. No way I will let anyone else wear them. Don't you just hate it when non-keepers touch your stuff?

Yeah when non-keepers go....'so what are hey like?' Then put them on with no inners and are like 'oh yeah they're really nice' 🤔 Like how the hell would you even know! 'Just put them down mate!' 😒

I quite like how they think wearing gloves suddenly means you can catch anything by just getting any part of the glove on the ball, like it's velcro or something.

I got the Predator 1500s for Christmas, had a net last night, wore them for the majority and then my LEs just as a direct comparison.

So the differences are:
1. Price, obviously, looks about double the cost £135ish compared to £65ish.
2. Weight, the 1500s are 40g lighter per glove.
3. Protection, the LEs feel like the palms are more cushioned. I find that a good thing. Everything else is pretty much the same.
4. Quality, the leather on the back of the LEs is much better quality but that doesn't make any difference apart from maybe more weight?

In conclusion, if you don't want to spend a load the 1500s are very good gloves. If you want to treat yourself go for the LEs. I am certainly not going to wear my LEs for practice, I think the protection of the 1500s is more than enough at my level.

Annoyingly I received a load of Barrington gift vouchers for Christmas and their prices are stupidly high compared to everywhere else. I was thinking about getting another pair of LEs with them for the future, I love them that much.
