Raw handle shape

I was watching a video of the maestro Julian Millichamp bat making the other night. The handle he was using was basically only turned two thirds of the way down, leaving an area of unfinished cane which was worked down to shape with a draw knife meaning there was much more material to play with close to the shoulder. To someone like myself who has recently started dabbling and finds that the trickiest area to get right it made perfect sense. Anyone know a source for such handle blanks?
