My team will be moving to the Worcestershire League next season heading into division 6 most likely after years in the Cotswold Hills. I know a few of you guys play in the Worcs League so I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask a few questions. Does anyone know roughly when the fixtures are announced? If you know the teams in division 6 which grounds are the ones to look out for (good or bad), whose got the best teas? Looking forward being the optimist I am, which teams higher up should I be looking forward to?

What do you enjoy or what frustrates you about the League inc rules and regulations?

Any other info or thoughs would be great.

I play in worcs league in div 6 and have done iso for years it' was originally the one team division have not seen the make up of the division for 2017 yet as the fixtures normally are published over xmas knowing the clubs the that are usually in the div I would have to say our tea are the best.
In previous seasons the div as had 4 good teams any one of which could win it ( we Missed out on the title in in 2016 due to having to cancel matches not being able to raised a side.) upto 2016 there were 6 other sides who could beat each other the teams in the division have not changed much in previous seasons as there's no promotion only usually relegation of the team that finishes bottom.
Also last season we were travelling to Birmingham Shropshire Hereford and near to Stratford on Avon. Our ground and facilities are one of the best.

From memory Div 6 is a mixture of 3rd teams and Ist teams, quality is varied with some first teams as good as Div 1 2's if not better.

we were talking about teams tonight.

barnard greens thirds i think it was will be in div 6 as they have lost their 4th team. there are a couple other teams that have dropped out or joined the birmingham league. it looks like i could be a strong league as clubs have to have a 2nd XI to play above that level

What's your team? @kenbriooo. My team are going into div 2 for the first time ever next year but I'm thinking of moving to overbury who are in the Cotswold league to get a chance to bowl. Just looked at the div 6 2016 fixtures and they look quite spread out, @Seniorplayer is right the travelling is getting ridiculous. Ombo and harbourne are big clubs so I'd expect them to be strong even in their lower teams. You'll be right round my way playing at barnards green, literally down the road. You'll find their ground very interesting!!! It's a second ground so not in the best nick and has a slope that could rival the home of cricket and then some. Decent rural boozer practically attached to it though. As far as rules go the leg side wides will drive you mad if you're a bowler.

Thanks @Seniorplayer, @Blazer, @jwebber86 and @GoldenArm for your responses. I play for Cookhill that's just by Redditch on the Worcs / Warks border. I've only played for them for a season after years at Shipston playing against @19reading87 and @uknsaunders.

With regards to travelling we're stuck between 3 Leagues geographically so whichever we are in there will be some travelling to do, although I do enjoy that part of the day. We only have one team and struggled fr 11 last year so hoping that a fresh start will help reinvigorate the club. What clubs do you guys play for?

I play for Cutnall Green village its between Droitwich and Kidderminster we have a professional groundsman who produces an excellent track but golden arm is correct re the travelling what I find teams are so much stronger at home.

Your right re Barnards green I was hit in the face there and Had to have 8 stitches in my lip paying a foreward defensive shot the ball shot up into my face off a length.

We have a decent track and outfield and our groundsman won an award that was presented at Lords a couple of seasons ago. We're trying to get proper covers and sightscreens and hopefully we will have one or both sorted very soon.
@Seniorplayer I bet you didn't appreciate that very much. It's one of the reasons that I still wear a helmet for that 'just in case' moment.

It'll be interesting to see how the standard compares between the Leagues. One of the things I am looking forward to is the challenge of the possibility of a draw. One of the things that frustrated me in the Cotswold league was that it was apparent quite often which way the result would play out long before the last ball was bowled.

The league set up is you play a win lose winnig draw or losing draw match followed by a win lose match against each other.
Not having yet seen the fixtures Can't comment on the standard for 2017 but in previous seasons you could predict who would beat who due to the mismatch of teams in the Div

I played about 5 games last 2 years for Redditch 3rds and tend to struggle for playing 11 even though we have 4 teams, this year we are merging those two and have a few batsmen drop from 2s. Hoping to play most games this year and get back into 2 or play for other neighboring teams.

its a decent league IMO, having played in the Warwickshire league forever we moved to Worcs a few seasons back there is less agrro, the grounds and teas are better and the opposition seem to understand what league cricket on a saturday is all about

Barnards Green 3's in Div 6 will be interesting, i'd expect them to be a strong outfit in that division and win the league. when i've played there the pitch has been fine but that slope is something else

travelling can be a bit much but now Ross and Cleobury have moved leagues its reduced the chance of some long treks for some of our sides

Guessing you play for alvechurch? Just thought I'd remind you about that time in 2015 when you scored 350 and we chased it down in 47 overs 🤣. Sorry couldn't help myself. How did you find div 2 last season? And Ross have moved leagues?! Where have they gone??

Div 6 is looking strong it will certainly ba a test for Barnards green 3rds as well as other 3rd teams in the division as there's Birlingham Havington Cuttnall Green in there.
