Jack Leach action is 'suspect'
« on: December 20, 2016, 01:47:25 PM »

ECB claims that Leach wasn't selected as replacement for Ansari because his action isn't clean...so they only find this out after a whole season of bowling  :o covering ones backside of you ask me

I suspect there's been a lot of scrutiny and they're heading off some form of press exposée...

will be interesting to see how he goes now his action has had 'a change' at loughborough, where they supposedly spotted it.

I'd much rather them spot it now than get grooved into test cricket then be suspended, and not be able to re-form his action quick enough.

They could have easily stuck him in and then let the ICC tear his action to pieces. that would have been good for the England spin cupboard :-D

Yeah any kink in the action can be worked on away from the test arena.

Looks like a good call.we are going to need to develop spin to improve the team abroad

I dont really understand why this had to come out like this especially now, ECB continue to leak stuff to the press and end up looking stupid

All the bowlers had been selected so he still didn't have 'a chance' in the public eye. Now they are just explaining their reason, timing doesn't matter.

he worked on his action at the end of the summer before touring with the lions.

he used the new action against Afghanistan and UAE.

dont understand why they didnt say something earlier about it.

Make your own mind up.

I think it was good the ecb were protecting him, but his action looks fine in these videos

Unfortunately another case of bowlers progressing through the ranks, nearly all the way to the top with a bent arm.
Down here it seems to be case where because calling someone a chucker is possibly the worst thing you could do so none does.
Umpires here are not allow to call arm no balls, any suspect actions require a fair bit of discussion/paperwork trouble with club officials/captains/umpires. Ends up being too much effort.
