Hey All,

I am looking to invest in a good pair of WK Gloves with a budget of around AUD $100 - $150 (Approx 70 - 90 Pounds). Any suggestions?

I have short listed a few in their order of preference;

GN OMEGA XRD has a very interesting grip pattern. Not sure if it is really works?

I had the omega xrds last season the palm is really good however I didn't like the fit .The glove was too wide so there  was an overhang of palm at the end of each glove which meant you had to overlap your gloves.This may just be down to the size of my hands but in terms of my fingers they fitted perfectly so that's probably not the case .

What size are you generally and what size were the XRD's? May be one size smaller would the trick? I realised the same with GN Legend gloves they were a bit bigger for my usual medium size and didn't felt good due that excess. Omega 1200 felt great fit wise but i am not sure about the grip. How is the grip (Pattern) of XRD's? They have a very interesting pattern to most others?

I had large men's grey nicolls gloves the year before and the xrds were large men's however when I put the old ones ontop of the xrds the xrds were clearly bigger.So maybe a size smaller would of done the trick .I think the issue was because the edge of the palm was straight and most other gloves curve.
In terms of the palm I found it to be amazing for the first half of the season but once it wore a little it became felt more like a standard palm.

I had the normal sized XRDs and you do have to overlap them whatever. The edge of the glove has about 1cm boarder then the seam so your hand can't fill the full width of the glove. It feels weird to start with but you get used to it. I got the predators this year and I do prefer a standard fitting glove rather than having to overlap your hands a fair bit. The grip on the XRDs is so good but wears out fairly quickly and then is just the same as others. The one good point is that they are very thin and flexible but also offer a lot of protection.

I had the legends the season before and the grip in those wore out very quickly. I suspect the legends are a lot easier to get re-gripped than the XRDs, I'm not even sure if the XRDs can be re-gripped.

Fair enough. Whats the point having these expensive gloves if they cant even last a season the least.

I imagine a lot will depend on how much you train.
I get at least a couple of seasons out of a glove but that's based on very minimal keeping training.

I can't comment on the puma gloves. If I had to choose between legends and XRDs I'd probably go with legends. They are different gloves, the legends are more traditional.

Just to give you an idea of how much I used them last season, probably 16 x 46 over matches, 10 T20s and nets with a bowling machine for 30 mins each week for 9 months, I wonder if the indoor balls wear out the gloves more? Occasional outdoor practice.

Both were great for 4/5 of the season, just started to wear out at the end, new pair needed for the next season.

That's the exact reason I won't buy GN keeping gloves.

IMO speak to B&S there keeping kit is some of the best I have ever used, easily as good as top end GM and half the price and the cut of the glove is perfect

My gloves usually only last one season. Recently ive been using some kooks, which are three seasons in and are top notch. Kangaroo leather which is really soft and lasted well, as has the grip, I don't want to part with them. Going to look into getting them re gripped, how much it would be and how long it would take. Ive got a few contacts. Anyway, im recommending kook gloves.

Difficult to give advice on here, my advice would be if you can, go to a store and try on as many pairs as you can. Even if you don't buy them from that store, you will very quickly work out what shape of gloves, palm patterns, cuffs etc which then makes looking for gloves that tick all the boxes that bit easier!
