Still baffles me how he scores so many runs with that technique?!

I say that with many people i bowl against....

Apparently is it doesnt matter about technique, just about the runs!

shocking net

but the bloke scores bucketloads of runs..... :)

us ameteurs need the basics of a sound technique to help us out, these blokes don't.

Graeme Smith was similar, looked awful, scored loads especially when he played us !

Ultimately it's hand eye coordination

See ball, hit ball.

yep. and the pro's have that in spades.

look back to some of the shots KP played at his peak, it's just remarkable talent.

for the rest of us, that's you @Churchy1989 too it's off to more nets and trying to keep the bat straight/elbow up/side on/whatever takes your fancy

The reason KP still does well even though he is effectively a part time cricketer is because he has excellent basic technique and really understands his game. On top of his hand eye coordination

Did give the bat some love at the end in fairness

Not sure I'd fancy facing balls so quick in succession ;) :)

You should try it with tennis balls and a tennis racket, feeder is half way down the crease, supposedly improves reactions, of just a laugh for the feeder peppering you !

People assume that because his technique is different that it is flawed and that he is ultimately relying on hand-eye coordination.

Not entirely true. He has a good trigger movement that gets him into a strong, balanced position as the ball leaves the hand. It allows him to come forward and go back with ease and he is also a 360 player with no discernible weakness. He drives, cuts, pulls and glances extremely well.

The text-book technique isn't the only way to bat. Ultimately it's about being comfortable, balanced at the crease and knowing your game.

Here's a better one for his technique. He always hits the ball right under his eyes which means he gets over the top of the ball:

In the initial video he looks to be preparing for One day or T-20 cricket.

And his head and weight go into the ball...even on back foot drives and even though he has a rigid front knee
