Dilemma - which bat to use?
« on: January 12, 2017, 02:46:56 PM »

Ok so I'm in a bit of a pickle...

I have two bats that I am considering using as my main match bat,

Hell 4 leather and newbery.

Before he last couple of nets I've had this wouldn't have been an issue as my h4l is wonderful, at 2.12 picks up like a dream however recently due to some tweaks in my technique from last season I have found myself Ben g early on shots and chipping the ball to cover/midoff/midon/midwocket type field placing.

So I started to use the newbery I got off chad, it's the same weight as the h4l but doesn't pick up as well and I don't seem to be as early on shots.

Both bats perform and I would be happy to use either which probably doesn't help my case here at all!

Now as I've been hitting the ball well with both I'm slaps wondering if it's all in the head and I'm going a bit loopy and just finding an excuse to chop and change kit in true CBF fashion.

If you were me, would you persist with the bAt you'd bought new spent hours prepping and playing in or the  one bought off the forum just because you fancied one of that brand?

And don't say sell both and buy a new one as I've already bought others too!

Flip a coin.
Heads for H4L, tails for Newbery.

Let us know the result  :)

I use heavy bats because I time the ball better and am not early in my shots (especially when driving). So, you know which one I'd pick. :)

if the bat performs and pings Then stick with the newbery, chopping and changing bats never works.

I have similar issue. But mine is more about the fact that the H4L bats I have a absolutely amazing. But I also have a TK made Newbery which is also amazing!
Just got to say here that what feels amazing for one person may not feel the same to someone else.

Anyway, I am playing Saturday league cricket plus midweek T20. So I will see which bat best suits each format and use one in League and the other in midweek. That way I get to use more than one bat  ;)

use the one that helps you score the most runs.

bats are for scoring runs.

^ Right on! That should probably be the only criterion for bat selection. :)

Use the lighter one and wait a bit longer to play the shot  or choose one and stick with it

Lend one to your skipper!!
and just enjoy batting, plenty of time in winter to make a choice.
