Lightweight helmet options

After my colt days were over, I moved into batting in a cap which I've done so for the past four years, but after a couple of teammates have had facial injuries as a result of no helmet, I've decided it's probably around time I invested in one. I need something that is as light as possible, as even though I'm pretty technically correct, I still have issues with falling over to the offside, so a heavy helmet wouldn't help that.

(I'm aware that I could do some work to change my technique instead of blaming a helmet, that's also in the works this winter)

Was wondering what recommendations were out there?

Depends on budget, the new original masuri lids with a ti grille would be a good bet. As would the ayrtek. Lots depend on your budget.
I have a gm lid on ebay if you want a cheap option

as Buzz says alot really depends on your budget.

for me money doesn't really matter when it comes to protecting your head and you will find them all heavy to start with if you haven't worn them before.

i have the Masuri with the Ti Grille which yes is expensive but is brilliant.

I can offer our latest PremierTek model with a Fixed position Ti grille, if it's of interest drop me a PM. Price wise you'd be looking at £154.99 inc UK P&P.

Safety wise it's sub 50g on impact attenuation levels.

I started wearing a helmet 2 years ago, for similar reasons to yourself. I bought a Masuri as it fitted me the best. Initially I did find it to be heavy, and faintly claustrophobic. But, after a few net sessions and a couple of matches I became very used to it, and I guess adjusted my technique naturally. I wouldn't be without it now and, as mentioned in an earlier thread, did get hit last season and felt extremely well protected. A very worthwhile investment.
