My trip to Vulcan for 2017 kit
« on: January 19, 2017, 01:16:18 PM »

This is a long time overdue but at the backend of last year, after emailing him at the beginning of every season for about the last five years and never following through with anything, my friends and I took a trip up to Dean's workshop in Essex (Vulcan Cricket). I had been messaging backwards and forward with him trying to decide which of his bats I was going to invest in. I personally couldn't care less about big thick edges and huge spines, as I'm just a fan of the dome profile with no concaving, so after much discussion Dean said he'd sell me an Imperial he'd made to use himself but since he'd moved towards using his Gravity profile, he needed to get rid of it. I also needed a bat for my friend who was more than thrilled when Dean offered him a heavily discounted wind damaged Elegance that had a blemish that would be hidden under the bat stickers anyway. The cheaper bat turned out to be huge for it's weight and the thin grip was perfect for my mate's smaller hands.

I also recently donated my H4L NV Pro gloves and Vantage pads to the Budapest/Hungarian cricket association when I went there as they were lacking in half decent gear and I knew that'd be the perfect excuse to invest in some new gear. I grabbed a pair of the Gravity gloves and the Imperial pads, both of which are of absolutely top quality and I couldn't be happier, so call me a full kit w***er if you must, but I'm a proud one regardless.

As my last request, I got Dean to give my ST Avenger a refurb which after 3 seasons of heavy use was in desperate need of a bit of TLC. I gave him my fake ebay bright pink NB stickers to whack on it, because my yellow shoes aren't loud enough on their own. I've attached pics to show off the two new bats as well as my fabulous looking refurb, it was my first time to a bat workshop and couldn't be happier with the result, so cheers!!

My ST/Fake New Balance and the Vulcan Elegance are 2'8.4 and the Vulcan Imperial is 2'8.3, not sure of edge and spine but can find that out when I get home, they all pick up a dream and I'm a big fan of Dean's homemade bat worshop, it's a great little place well worth a visit!

Great looking bats, not far from me so I should really pay a visit.
