Is this fixable?
« on: January 20, 2017, 04:52:03 PM »

Hi All,
I would like to know if this is fixable? I need to use it as a net bat. I got a pretty good deal. Is it worth spending money?

Yep that's fixable. You'll need to unravel the tape to see whether the crack follows the grain over the shoulder or stems from the shoulder of the bat itself. If the former, it's a glue, clamp and dowel job, if that latter and it stems from the shoulder it will need glue and clamping as well as a new handle

Yes it's fixable wouldn't spend money on it though especially as its a net bat.

If I can't get it fix then using it as a net bat was my backup plan however If it is fixable then I might just it as a match/team bat.

I've had a few like this. As said if the crack heads towards the Handle, it's usually handle out, glue clamp and dowel then new handle.

B3 fixed me one a few years back which a team mate bought and it's still going strong. And it's used hard every game/net.

Did the same to my Warsop, fixed, good as new. handle replaced and glued but no need for the dowel. Always tape my bats around the shoulders now though.

How much did you spend for a new handle?

Any batmaker on here will be able to do it more than likely, however if you want Gray Nicolls stickers put back on you'll need to send it through to GN Robertsbridge.

As its not a difficult repair why not save your money and have a go yourself at fixing it you could always get a professional  repair if unsuccessful.

I might just do it. I have repaired few bats before so I will try to repair this as well.

@Cricket_PTY did it effect the performance at all? I was going to use super glue for wood and bind it.
