I generally carry 2 bats in my bag. One match bat and one practice bat. Have a couple of spare bats at home. Went through bat detox in the last 6 months and got rid of close to 15 bats and not to mention my wife has already occupied the space which was assigned to these spare bats. So no more buying ;) !

I played senior cricket for nearly 25 years before I actually bought a proper match bat. It then took me another 10 years to work out how to use it..

mmmm, good thread!

Batting lower order for the first half of my adult career, i only every had one bat. Not only that, but i only bought grade 2 willow! Couldn't justify the price for something that would only get used for a handful of deliveries before change of innings (i broke the club record for most "not out's" one season).

Since i did a trip to India a few years ago with work and picked up two bats cheap, i've always carried two bats to every game. One is always the main bat and the other, just in case... Wet pitch, change in the weather, or, god forbid, the main bat breaking... are the only reasons.
Bats always a few seasons apart.

Currently have four bats; two which i alternate their uses in games, one just acquired that will certainly be used this year and a net bat.

This year I'll have three bats at games. Im not that fussy or superstitious in terms of scoring runs with one and not the other, so its entirely dependent on the track and my feeling on the day! One has a lower middle than the other two so that may see more use in the early season...

I've got 3 in my bag at the moment, 2 kooks a kahuna (my old match bat, which has a crack in the shoulder) and a bubble which is my net bat), my third is my new red ink x* custom, which will be my match bat this season. I did have a 4th, which was another red ink custom that I had repaired,  but it broke in the nets last week....I'm still in mourning.

I'll usually take 2 to games in my bag. Match bat and a spare just in case.

If I get there early enough I'll sometimes take an additional one that gets used in the warmups and helps it while being knocked in.

we are not easily shocked on here, show us Mac  :)

and....without being a hypocrite because I like a decent polished bat like everyone else, kudos for having an 18 year old bat.

Big Mac...big respect.

I might throw up a couple of photos of it when I get home later. I hope you guys aren't squeamish.

I used to only have 1, but since joining this forum have bought another 3. 2 of them got sold on, so I'm now left with my original and very pingy Pellara CX '13 and (annoyingly given the price) not as pingy although I hope it will open up, '16 Pellara elite. Still want a nice low middle B3 but I'll have to wait until I cN find some way of concealing it from SWMBO.

My answer Cam, is I don't
My match bat is probably the best bat I've ever used, and is a one off
The problem is, it's fragile, and I'm knackered if it breaks , so I've gotta find suitable replacements for the day when it finally dies.(and if jnr brings it back from nz)

I'm exceptionally lucky, in that through this forum, I met you guys, and now have access to some of the best bats available.
And possibly a few that are not usually available to buy 😉

Only ever really keep two bats close one to break so i have a replacement.

Have many but i have mess about bats and trying new stuff.

I'm moving towards spending more on quality coaching than bats...

Bats never scored runs on there own

You must have missed that Slazenger Lam that @smilley792  sold to @Churchy1989, ive used it and that thing could score runs leaning against off stump!

Over here in Holland we don't have the luxury you guys have. We can't really walk into a cricket shop and wave around a few blades to find out which might suit. That's my excuse for buying as many bats as I do.

At the moment in my match bag I have a Hunts Pro grade Turbo Revolution (which is going to be very hard to replace when it gives up the ghost), a Mongoose Cor3 for a bit of a bif and a GM Aura 404 as a wet weather/someone forgot their bat backup.

Ok I have also a LB Hellfire and a GN Vortex waiting in the wings should anything happen. Ok and an Uzi and a SafBat Origin should anything bad happen. Plus a spare helmet or two, 2 pairs of spare gloves plus I've just bought some Remfry's should I change my mind about the Strettons. Plus I've just bought two pairs of cricket shoes because the ones I have are looking past their best.

You guys that make up the CBF are a blessing and a curse! ;-)

I Have 1 bat ....well... 1 B3, 1 SALIX, 1 BRADBURY, 1 NEWBURY and one spare Bradbury but that doesn't count as its a spare. The other 14 or 15 I'm just fixing up for a mate.
