I was wondering what has happened to them? Have they started reducing their footprint in the cricket industry? There still a few sponsored players but not much news/advertising/new 'breakthrough' bat models coming out!

Sports direct bought Slazenger.

Since then they have had there bat making completely moved to India(not necessarily a bad thing)
lost interest in high quality gear and focused on quantity instead
They spend little money on sponsorship and advertisement
They no longer looks to be inventive

They are now a former shadow of the once great selfs.

Bats are still excellent made at the same place as the new balance bats. Don't knock them.

I tweeted them asking when their 2017 kit is released, but nothing yet.

So sad to see this. They used to be such an iconic brand on 90s! Can't forget Mark Waugh wielding their bat with his awesome wrists! Even Tendulkar used to use their sticks early in his career.

I reckon in terms of volume of bats sold, they're up there with the biggest brand in the UK. Just most of it is low-end stuff now.

For those interest Talent Cricket should have most of the 2017 range.

I was wondering the same. I don't see too many slazengers sponsored players in international circuit.

On the side note, last year I bought V800 g1+ bat from talent cricket toward the end of the season for cheap. It is very well balanced and ping is excellent. My teammates wanted to buy it but I kept it for myself.

One year they had hex handle, TAS inserts in the edges, double spine etc and then everything suddenly disappeared from the scene. No one knowledgable is discussing them anymore for obvious reasons. It is shame that iconic brands for 80s and 90s e.g Duncan fearnley, Slazenger, SS (the original one not Sareen Sports), Hunts County etc. are either struggling or have moved on! A lot of my childhood memories are associated with these brands!

Disappeared off the face of the earth here in Aus. Went in a sharp decline once they lost Clarke to Spartan, and also when Smith went to New Balance that's pretty much it. Lots of quality players used them back in the day, M.Waugh, Martyn, Symonds, Kallis, Stewart, Butcher, Ramprakash, Carl Hooper, etc...

Being from South Africa, slazenger always had a presence through Kallis who remained loyal to them after changing from Lazer.

Interestingly Spartan used to run the Slazenger brand in Aus. Their decline in AU coincides with the rise of Spartan.
