Interestingly Spartan used to run the Slazenger brand in Aus. Their decline in AU coincides with the rise of Spartan.

Yep, Ian Davis is his name. Signed Clarke as a 12 or 13 year-old with Slazenger, so I suppose when he started Spartan Clarke had a greater loyalty to him than Slazenger itself.

Licencing is all explained here:

Interestingly the spartan version of the Dual Spine V1200 did not have a tapered toe.

As a youngster in the 1980's a lot of the top senior club guys in my region used V12's then V100's/ V500's.  Personally for me there was something completely different about Slaz bats and much more interesting than Gray Nic bats.  I'm always on Youtube watching old games and its more than clear that alot of past England players used Slazenger gear.  I used to love as a kid watching Allan Lamb belt the kiwi attack all over the park with his trusty V12!! ......was disappointed when he went over to Kookaburra.....

I will be using Slazenger bats this season. The V800 and V12. Both seem like good bats
