What to put in grazes and grass burn
« on: January 31, 2017, 06:37:18 AM »

Good morning peeps.

I know this sound weird but totally nothing to do with cricket. I was playing football on Astro turf last night and I've totally grazed the side of my leg. Everything I wear now sticks to it and in bed the duvet was just sticking to jt. I also suffer this in the cricket season after diving on grass. What's the best things to put on it ???

I spent 10 years playing American Football on Astro turf pitches, the whole time I had no skin on both my elbows and knees, so I know exactly what your going through.  There is a liquid plaster/skin which does work ok, also an iodine spray is helpful

From my hockey experience definitely liquid plaster or spray on plaster is the best thing I've used. I've known a few people get some nasty infections from astro turf pitches, especially water-based ones. Anti-bacterial plaster spray is sensible just to keep the cut clean.

Air them out so they dry nicely and form a scab. Then spend a pleasurable week picking the scab off. Nothing brings back happier thoughts of youth than this.

Salt, dries the graze out nice and quickly so it can get on with healing.

New research shoves that wounds heal quicker and better in a humid envoirement. My suggestion, as told by my MD, clean it and clingwrap it. Change and clean once a day.

If you rash out on the non-affected skin, let it breathe between clings.
