XP80 to go with the 50+
« on: February 07, 2017, 05:26:32 PM »

Having been impressed with the 50+, I decided to take the plunge on an XP80. GCCC had a 20% off on bats for Australia day and I just couldn't resist. They didn't respond to my emails regarding the specs I wanted and delivered this:

The weight is 2.10 on this.

Forum members who have the XP80 can you guys please comment on the performance of these bats. I have a 50+ which is phenomenal so hoping this one is a belter too.

I have the same weight XP-80, haven't used it yet. It is just so pretty that I am unwillingly to hit it with a mallet. :D

The bat is with a friend in Sydney and I won't be getting it before march. I'm curious about the toe, shoulder, edge size. Are they really too skinny. I wanna aak my friend to measure them but I don't wanna be too demanding  :D

In my opinion, toe is no thinner than a light weight bat's toe. You can harden it with a mallet. Regarding shoulders, it doesn't matter to me because, I don't hit many balls there. If you send me a reminder message, I can measure the bat and message you back.

Lucky guy to have 2 very special GN bats. Stunning in the looks department.

That'd be great. Do you have any other GN 'big' bats?

Also because it's your last bat, you need to keep it for long.

Have used my xp80 all season  beautiful bat just sooo much middle 22 to 23mm toe  mine has survived several yorkers no problem   it was knocked in extensively  very deep ping where it counts & is light compared to the 50plus 2lb 8oz , my 50plus has a much broader hitting zone & just murders balls in the zone 2lb 13oz  , secret i found is try not to hit the ball too hard , time it right & big hits are effortless

I haven't had much time to play with the two bats but Warner is over 3 ounces heavier than XP-80. :)
