Doesnt look major issue to me, but a knocked in bat should not leave such a mark either..Lastly, no batting without scuff sheet if you want it to last long!

A bit of the plastic sheet ain't gonna stop damage if bat isn't properly knocked in!

It would certainly help minimise the damage, and a properly knocked in bat can still receive severe damage if the ball is a rock

Toys out the pram more than anything! I'll probably have delisted it tomorrow and be ordering wood glue, scuff sheet and an LV Mallet to knock it in better 😑

I just looked at the photos in the listing, they don't look anywhere near as bad as the close up. Bit of glue and knock it in, it'll be fine.

I never use a bat without a scuff sheet and have never had problems like this. I got some hammer scuff sheets off Tom @Ayrtek Cricket and they are superb quality. Bought a few together so they were cheap too  :D

I ve looked at the damage posted here and I've never seen a seam mark like that let alone the damage it's done in my opion that's no normal ball more like brick was bowled at you . In spite of this very easily fixed and a scuff sheet is highly recommended you will be amazed how much impact protection it provides get it off eBay you will be sorry if you don't

Nope, that's definitely done, send it to me for safe disposal :D

Or get it checked out by Matt and beat, whoever was bowling rocks at you, with a flexi stump for being a complete tit.

Have h4l check it out. It SHOULD be a glue, clamp, sand job...but there is a chance it starts to delaminat from that spot. So, best to have them sort you out

Have similar damage on one of my bats. Gluing might not help as it will open up after repeated impact. Would recommend a strip or two of fibreglass tape across with a scuff sheet on top for added protection.

Go back to h4l - a prepared bat shouldn't do this! Presumably you paid for the knocking in service!!?? I had one from h4l supposedly fully knocked in by them and it did something similar near the toe
Looks like a combination of rock hard ball, red wood, and no sleeve. Not terminal as suggested and I wouldn't necessarily be blaming whoever knocked it in.
