My new bat SG Legend
« on: February 15, 2017, 11:31:26 PM »

Was never a fan of SG bats but Decided to go for the SG Legend after hearing so many good things about SG making top quality bats recently.
Received it yesterday and so impressed with the quality. Excellent finish and the pressing on it is much better then SG bats of the past as Ping is exceptional and a lovely shape. Mid-low middle and pings good higher near the sticker.
Oval Handle. 12 grains with tiny heartwood on edge. Weight only 2.73 with 37mm edges and full profile. And no its not a dry willow. Very impressed especially with ping and size of sweetspot for such lightweight bat.
Enjoy the pictures.

Looks a beauty. I find the likes of SG and SS/TON are very good quality now compared to what I used to see. I love my TON I have at the moment and would definitely be tempted to buy more in future.

Thanks. And your right they have improved. SS I had few years back and it was exceptional too. But SG never impressed me as I saw quite alot of top range SG bats which were not impressive at all. But since last year they have been making exceptional bats and are highly recommended by so many people so I took a gamble and it was definitely worth it. They have improved massively.

Paid around £325 for it, would been bit more but bought few other stuff too so got it for that much. Was well worth it as they hardly come so light. The seller I got it from only had 2.9+ weight SG legend. But i wanted a lighter one so he said lightest probably he could get would be 2.8-2.85 so he asked SG to make a lightweight around 2.8 with oval handle. And it came out around 2.73 with full profile. Top quality willow.

Very nice looking bat. Have been impressed with the Players edition that i have seen recently as well as Sunny Gold and King Cobra.

Is that standard UK price? Seems expensive when compared to Indian price.

How did you get SG to make one to specs and oval handle?

Last time I saw SG bats up close was a couple of years ago when a bloke was flogging them and SS bats from his garage - I wasn't impressed by them at all. I was suspicious of how dry they were. The pics of your bat seem to indicate that SG has lifted its game on the finishing front. Hope it goes well for you :)

Absolutely correct, I saw a few too some years back and they were very poor in finishing and very dry. Never was a fan of them till now. Took a gamble on it as I was told they have improved a lot.
And it was true they certainly have. The finishing is excellent and it's not a dry willow despite weight close to 2.7.
