I'll have a chat with you bwcc, I was there in 94-95, Sydney is fabulous and no one hates the English as most have relatives here-never been made more welcome anywhere with my England shirt on. Drove from Sydney to Melbourne on Humes highway, didn't look far on the map, took about 100 hours with 4 of us in a Nissan Micra.Stopped to re fuel a few times is deserted petrol stations, you've seen Wolf Creek right? Ok it was like that.
Got to Melbourne it rained a lot just like England, hit the MCG and the sun came out, vast stadium wrapped up in jeans, coat and boots to avoid skin cancer the temp hit 100 degrees.then with nothing to eat apart from a burger went out on the town (still boiling hot) drank way too quick must of passed out in the toilet or hit my head somewhere.Woke up with a sheila(Aussie girl) legs astride my neck in the gents toilet slapping me round the face. Without her doing that I could of been brown bread, to her I owe a lot.
Fell out with my mate on the trip got a silver bus back to Sydney with an Israeli army girl asleep on me for 24 hours.she was very pretty and I fell in love for a day.
Back at Pitt street Sydney took in the sights of a wonderful city, left and came back to England a grown up.
Is that OK for you?.
Straight out of Inbetweeners! Love it!
I dunno where this myth about English being hate din Australia emanates from? Every cricket club has both Aussie resident Poms and gappy Poms playing. Every work place has Poms working there. I mean,. you only have to look at an average Aussie test team to realise that a lot of Aussies have very recent UK backgrounds...Renshaw obviously, Handscomb, Pattinson, Smith, Harris, Slater, Tait...the list goes on.
Come down for an Ashes series, because guaranteed you will love it!
