Batting grips
« on: February 26, 2017, 03:59:32 PM »

Hi guys

I just wanted the forums opinion on a couple of batting grips. I'm interested in getting either the Kookaburra Snake or the Kookaburra Vee grip and just wanted the forum thoughts on them. Whether people have used either grip and are they any good?

TIA

Hi

I haven't used either grip but the best i have used are the GM ripple and GM shock absorber. Also, I don't think you can go wrong with a plain white chevron

Hi KD I've got both personally prefer the vee best way I can describe them is like the bottom half of a GM shock absorb grip but it's all over and less pronounced. The snake is not a terrible grip either its just a bit thin and have more of a feel for the bat whereas the vee is more on the spongy comfort side. As well as thicker.

Having used a fair few grips in my time, the best I've used is the dynamic grips from GM failing to get one of them then have a look at the GM control grips

I have every grip you can probably think of in white don't ask why.  Always been a big one for spirals grip but noticed a lot of pros have gone back to the traditional chevron so I put it on my bats and netted with them and don't think I'll change it back I much prefer the feel of the bat now over the thickness and softness. The only one I may change it to is the control grips as I rate them very highly but they are becoming harder and harder to purchase in white.

If you like to feel your grip on the handle or have smaller hands chevron works best.
Personally never liked thoese thick sponges grips as when you put your hands on  the bat handle it felt like you were holding  a squash ball not a bat.

Every grip needs to be in white.

Grips are a one of a batmakers frustrations. In 70s all grips were shiny black things. Since then they have become a fashion accessory. We took white chevron grips to all our retailers one year..they all laughed at us and told us that this this or this was much better.
That was until they realised that all the pros used chevron grips and the retailer rebranded them " players grips"
The cricket bat used to be something made for the purpose of scoring runs.

Magic.
Retailers will start reacting with shock next that club players dont want the palms of their expensive gloves ruined by the dodgy coloured grips next

Aero bat grip every time.
No idea if they are genuinely 'grippier' as bumf reads but they look great & feel even better
