How to reduce the bounce in nets
« on: March 06, 2017, 11:49:33 AM »

I was wondering if anyone has any little tricks to make winter nets in a sports hall a little bit more realistic?

Would placing carpet (have some spare) under the matting help reduce the bounce?

What sort of sports hall are you in? The one we're doing our winter nets in doesn't get at all

Just the usual hard stone like floor, even as a rubbish offie anything that beats the bat clears the stumps easily. Was just looking to reduce the over the top nature of the bounce, as it's not the most useful preparation for the end of April in the north west.

We have placed another length of matting underneath the top mat. This makes ball bounce lower but you will need to duct tape the mat to the floor to stop slipping.

This is sort of what I was thinking as we've just had the house recarpeted and have plenty of spare lying around, thinking a 4/5 foot wide band under the mat as this would also help drill the bowlers to hitting a good length again

I would have a decent length if it unledd its thin carpet otherwise there will be a lip either side the ball could pop off
