Shoulder only whilst bowling
« on: March 06, 2017, 10:54:12 PM »

Day to day life, this doesnt hurt, no pain, no restriction, no previous injury...

But recently when bowling ive experienced discomfort mostly in the front of my shoulder (i would say where my pec/bicep meet the shoulder?) last night it migrated toward the back of my shoulder and was in pain all around my shoulder.

I have noticed slight pain when planking before in the same place but didnt think it was anything to worry about.

As our 1st team skipper/physio is a useless **** wondered if anyone had some advice?

Cheers

You can do a lot of things to nurse and improve shoulder health.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKc6hwPvsHg
I do these religiously which has helped me train heavy in the gym without worsenening my shoulder pain. I also do rotator cuff exercises like these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY2tNBOmvGs. Good luck and stick with the rehab, it will be a slow progress.

That first one is quite incitfu, i tried the hand behind the back and putting my palm facing it, left arm... Not pain no difficulty, right arm (one that hurts) very tight... Hmm

The form in this video is awful but does it hurt to do this type of motion with a 1-3kg DB?

I dont own dumbbells but i had a 1.5kg bottle of kraken rum  :D that didnt hurt, just tight flexability wise when reaching the max going upwards

That is good, probably a general balance and flexibility issue then. See a proper physio if in doubt though (can probably self refer rather than have to go through GP)

Seconded. I have an impinged left shoulder that day to day, is fine unless lifting with a straight arm. After a big net session, it hurts bad, but calms down in a day or two.  Diagnosed by my physio. Eventually got referred to ortho. Go easy until you know. The rotator cuff, if weakened in any way, is very susceptible to damage due to imbalances in muscle strength, as it's an inherently unstable joint due to the range of motion it has. It could just a bit of bursitis. Fingers crossed for you. :)
