He who brings the money is the boss. First thing i learned in economics. India are the A side. That's a fact.

That's great, it's all sorted then, the ICC hold firm, India don't come and play another T20 tournament with just Indian players.

We crack on holding the tournament without them. No sweat there's plenty of other teams for the fans to watch.

ICC runs for revenue and profit. Without the cash cow(India) there will not be any profit. They bring 90% of the money.

The big problem for the Indian board is if they do pull out of the Champions Trophy (which they have NOT threatened to do - they just haven't nominated a preliminary squad), they will have to back out of the Members Participation Agreement. Which means they won't be able to participate in or host any ICC games until 2023.

They can keep threatening to storm off home with their bat and ball as much as they like, but even India needs someone to play with.  ;)

they do indeed. A powerful cricket nation that is without argument. They need to pull out of this tournament and then see the consequences.

Do you have any proof of this? 90% seems grossly exaggerated!

i think 90% is exaggerated. There was a research conducted before the formation of big 3 and it was believed 68% of revenue for ICC was generated by India. I dont think India should get 570m but i also think they should get around 400+m. Pulling out of ICC championship trophy is just a speculation created by media...that wont happen IMO

I think we all feared that that would be the case.  Its a ridiculous decision, but it seems that Bairstow's face just doesn't fit.

I really don't think it's that. I think it's more like Hales does score runs, so they can't drop him and move Root up creating a space for Jonny. And Ali seems to be in with Rashid as well(I'm picking one spinner out of those two and root to bowl myself).

Then there's butler and Stokes to come back in....there's just no room.

Bairstow can only really get in at the expense of a batting position of one of them already in. Hard to see who that could be.

Bairstow is a fabulous player, but I don't think it's anything to do with face not fitting....

Yep agree i don't think it's his face nut fitting i just think they see him as a middle order batter and therefore those spaces are full at moment with Root, Morgan, Butler and Stokes.

So the only way he is getting into side is if we play an extra batsman at 7 and then have 5 bowlers including Stokes and Root. But i dont think Morgan will do that as the tracks will be to batter friendly to go in eith that bowling. I think Mo will play at 7 to give you more options with the ball.

We all didn't

I want England to pick their strongest team. Which they will. Bairstow wont be in it. The days of favorites and cliques within the England camp are long gone

That is crazy. I would have loved to have seen:
Roy
Hales
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Bairstow
Ali/Rashid
Woakes
Plunkett
Woods

And I would even be ok (although a little more disappointed) if the team were
Roy
Hales
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Ali/Rashid
Woakes
Plunkett
Woods
Ball/Willey

But on English wickets I would be very disappointed to see Rashid and Ali both playing!

A note on the pitches... i really don't think we will be seeing any English green seamers - this is an ICC event - they will be batting tracks where i reckon par will be 325 at least.

Bowling 1st will be all about, getting early wickets, then if you don't damage limitation, setting defensive fields and then chasing it down - so i get why Morgan wants more bowling options rather than Bairstow in as an extra batter.

Therefore I think it will be the 2nd option but Ali will definitely play - they will then look at the pitch and decide if they want 2 spinners - if so i think it will be Plunkett that goes - Woakes will definitely play, Willey gives you more variety and Wood gives you out and out pace.

Roy
Hales
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Ali
Woakes
Willey
Plunkett/Rashid
Wood

Does anybody know how I could go about watching the India V Bangladesh warm up game that is at The Oval on Tuesday? I happen to be at a customer that is pretty much next door to The Oval so was hoping to pop in for a few hours if I can. I can't find anything about tickets/entrance on the gate on The Oval website.
