Willow Twin Cricket
« on: March 13, 2017, 08:39:02 AM »

Morning everyone,

I'd like to introduce you all to Willow Twin, a new cricket equipment brand with a difference.

The concept of WT is basically centred around our partnership with The Change Foundation, a charity which uses cricket to impact the lives of disadvantaged young people including refugees, the disabled and urban youth both in the UK and around the world.

When you buy a WT bat, a proportion of the cost goes directly towards sponsoring a young person on a Change Foundation programme and gains them access to coaches and mentors who provide fun, friendship and life skills.

Having been a forum member for a while, i'm under no illusions that we are the best brand in terms of craftmanship. Our bats are not handmade in England and we do not attempt to claim parity with some of the brands on here in that regard. However, I can say that our kit is very high quality (particularly our gold edition grade 1s), and does provide the opportunity to give something back to the game and increase cricket's impact for good in the UK and worldwide.

You can have a look at the range for 2017 here: www.willowtwin.co.uk. We're starting small and will be increasing the range including softs next year if things go well.

All your feedback and comments are appreciated, please follow us on Instagram (willowtwincricket), facebook and twitter (@willowtwin_uk) to keep up to date with some of the stuff we're doing with the Change Foundation. Bats are now available to pre-order so get on the website and get behind us if you can!

Cheers all,

Joel

Really like the stickers, seem to have long middles over the range!

When you say double grip as standard, is that 2 grips or a double thickness grip?

Is that because the handles are thin or just something you are doing different?

Thanks glad you like the design!

Yep it's two grips (a thin base grip and a thicker matrix grip on top). Yeah the handles are reasonably thin, so we do this to improve the pick-up and balance.

Obviously this can be changed upon request.

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm a fussy git with my grips that's all!

May I ask why the handles have to be thin in the first place so as to need two grips. Why not just have thicker handles and get rid of the need to double grip? Just being curious from design point of view as to why this route..

The handles aren't excessively thin. When we tested the bats on a few people, general reviews were that the handles were a bit thin and most said they would double grip. Hence we decided to double grip as standard, and those who prefer a thinner handle can just remove a grip. However, this will probably be adapted in future as we learn what is most popular with our customers.

We're happy to cater to individual preferences, so we use two as standard and customers can choose.
