Anybody who treats Cricket as an individual sport will have no place and not welcomed in my team. If you want to be an individual go and play golf, darts etc....

Cricket is an individual sport played within a team context. You're not reliant on your team when batting or delivering a ball etc but you will need the team for fielding.

As buzz said, when I face the ball it's i and I alone facing it.. number 4 isn't helping me etc

When batting  or bowling  your cricket  becomes an individual sport within a team
Captains also need individuals or you become like sheep.
Personally never took much notice of captains who refer to teammates as his team
Never known ones that do last long as captain either.

I always feel that if you concentrate on your individual role whether that batting or bowling and do well - you will aid your teams cause. So be selfish. However if your needing 10 off the last over it's not a time to worry about your average!
