Ayrtek 2010 Grill and the settings
« on: January 27, 2010, 06:46:04 PM »

Right hada play with some helmets and the maximum size possible with the new grill they turned out as below, these are obviously the maximum size you can achieve as people have asked for a bigger gap to be allowed between peak and grill....needless to say smaller settings are able to be applied to such as 45mm for a junior sized ball requirement and 55mm for an adult sized ball.

Pics as below

Ayrtek = 85mm

masuri = 73mm

Albion = 84mm

They grills will be arriving on 5th February if people are keen to upgrade to a titanium grill?

Surely a ball could slip through any of those huge gaps!

Swami...yes indeed it could but when we designed the 2009 grills we specifically designed them in guidance with BSI standards so that a 45mm and 55mm gap between peak and grill could be applied. This in hindsight was an error and a learning curve for us as it seems people aren't concerned with having a gap that meets BSI safety standards and would much rather have a gap that gives them a better view of the ball coming towards them.

Hence why we have revised the mounting plates for the 2010 season version as pictured above.

lol no that i have seen i did give two of the helmets to their team manager when i was at wormsley for the world cup T20 warm up games but havent seen them wearing them as yet!

We did some samples for each of the 12 world cup teams as we had the shells back from BSI testing which had a few cracks etc in them after testing so thought we would put them to use any spray up a few designs. the above was the scotland one that we did.

Tom didn't bother as the pros don't like them, that's my understanding.......

With Masuri's? I see a few with Albion's. I spose it's preference and the majority of pros don't really wear them as they block out sounds, like calling...

Tom, not sure if this is the right place, but how is the more traditional shaped helmet coming along?

Leeroy...will be in Wisden good gear guide this month (??) or whenever it comes out. Got the ability to make them but need to make a decision if we want to put them through BSI testing etc to be able to sell them to the public.

Trying to gauge if there is enough demand to warrent proceeding with it TBH. or if to focus on the modern shell now that its started to get recognition. Will see what the review says and take it from there i guess.
