GM six6 909 bat.
« on: March 23, 2017, 06:51:19 PM »

Got this bat at a bargain price from a team member. Started playing on a turf wicket and wanted something with a slightly higher middle than my usual SS. Six6 and Spartan were my choices and here is the first one.

Specs

Edge size - 39 mm approx.
Spine - 54 mm approx.
Weight - 2lb 7.5oz
Grains - 8
Handle - Round handle.
Acquisition price - USD 150

Bat responds well to a mallet. I will be using it in the nets tonight and should have more information to share later on. GM generally features an oval handle. This particular bat doesn't seem to have that. It feels more of a round handle. Bat came with the usual GM plain scuff sheet, I removed it and gave it a bit of knocking before applying fiber glass tape. I will let pictures describe the rest :D

Looks a good bat mate.
I got a Original a couple of seasons ago that didn't look as good as that.

That looks amazing for a 606. Better than some originals. You have got yourself a bargain.

But it's a 909 mate !! Although looks more like a 606. Typically 909s are grainy and a lot of heartwood.

Got a chance to use this bat last night. I was pleasantly surprised. I was under the assumption that the bat has still not opened up and i would need couple of net sessions. I was wrong ... it seems to have opened up well and the ball really goes well when hit at about 200 - 220mm from toe. Being a high middle bat i was assuming that below 200mm from toe, it's not gonna be of much use, wrong again ... Couple of shots came off 3-4 inches from toe and it still ended up traveling well beyond the 30 yard circle.
