I feel for Yarkshire I really do!!!!

I wonder if having a yorkie as test skipper will help things, if he wants his players playing more regularly then they might be available a little more than previously?

He asked for permission to play the first three games, was told one, if lucky...

Warwickshire moderate bowling? That's harsh...

Barker
Wright
Patel
Clarke
Rankin
Woakes when he'll play
Olly stone from Northants

Woakes will play only marginally more than Yorkshire will see YJB.  Stone - they are already talking about him missing the season. That leaves five, with little quality back up.  Of those five, Clarke is a holding bowler at most and Rankin has done very little since he made that Test appearance.  Barker is great if it swings, mind...

Defiantly not going to happen, YJB should be available for more than 1 game. Beyond a joke that is...

What a load of rubbish about ECB vs. Yorkshire.

Really??

The evidence suggests otherwise

No, it doesn't. Jonny Bairstow wanted to play? So what? The England management didn't want him to. Such is the nature of central contracts. If you honestly believe that the ECB would unscrupulously try to influence the destination of the championship title in such a way, you might as well forget the whole thing.

Rikki Clarke takes a hell of a lot of wickets for a 'holding bowler'.

Okay, lets look at that one.  Its the last four days of the season, and you have the perfect advert for your domestic showpiece - the best two sides in the Championship playing winner takes all for your flagship title at the Home of Cricket.

Four members of your winter squards play for the two sides.  Three for one, one for the other.  All have played a similar amount of cricket over the preceding month, with the "one" having played the most.  None of them will play for fully six weeks after the game ends.

"One" plays.  "Three" are rested.  Of those three, one has played a grand total ofsix days in five weeks, and spends every hour of the four days practicing in the nets because he needs the game time.

Anyone who does not think there is something desperately wrong with that scenario requires assistance!

42 at 28 last year is not bad to be fair.  I'm going to maintain my view though that it is a mid table attack.

Great answer, if only it was as simple and straight forward as you are lead to believe, your Surname isn't Strauss is it?

You could go through the whole season and point at inconsistencies and unfairness in when players are available to play. I don't like this aspect of the central contract system as it does compromise the integrity of the championship. But if we are to use this system, then we must respect the wishes of the England management.

Put bluntly, that might be an argument against the system.

You are also, sadly, wrong.

Look at last seasons top three;
Middlesex lost Finn for three games and, if you generously include breaks for being dropped, Compton for five.
Somerset....none
Yorkshire lost Root for 14, YJB for 13, Rashid for six, Plunkett 5, Willey 3.

Okay, some of those were actual internationals. But many were 12th man duties or rest...

I've no doubt your figures are right, and bairstow resting towards the end of last year did seem a bit odd agreed.

But am I being too simplistic to say Yorkshire don't pay root or bairstow's wages, or rashids I don't think.

So whatever Yorkshire fans think, England comes first. bairstow and root and many others came thru their system but the ECB takes the financial cost and has done for a while now....

So if England want them to rest they rest or miss games

Is that not right or am I missing something?

I support Middlesex by the way !

Yorkshire had more internationals rested because they had more internationals?

If County cricket was fair, Yorkshire would be starting on –47 points in the second division along with Durham.
