Sanga first player to 1000 runs this season, barely half way through

Sanga reminds me of growing up watching domestic cricket when the worlds best came here like Richards, Hadlee, Barry richards(this list is endless!)

Because it shows the value of quality overseas rather than a team full of average players in the backdoor thru qualification to play.

If you are a young Surrey player how valuable is practising with, watching, and just being around such a great player.

Invaluable in my opinion.

What a great great signing for Surrey this has turned out to be.

List from the 80s/90s is endless especially as SA wasnt playing Test cricket.

Don't forget Malcolm Marshall! What a bowler he was shame he finished just after i was born and even more sad that he's not with us now

Have Surrey had a better overseas player in their team? Guess the only one I can look at through the books was Sylvester Clarke, but I was only a nipper during those days, ha.

Could not agree more. I've been to his bar in barbados(it's a shack actually) just to see the photos there and talk to locals about him, possibly the most complete fast bowler in my lifetime anyway, swing it both ways at pace, got wickets on any surface in the world .

And the opposite of that, Gooch got 120 odd against Marshall and all way back at Headingly. Quite possibly one of the finest innings ever.

But Marshall yes, just thinking about the approach to the wicket makes me smile, absolute poetry in motion.

I'd say Saqlain, certainly on the field anyway, integral part of our dominance in late 90s early 00s

Some unbelievable finishes to the d/n games.

Essex beat middlesex in the last over - what a shot (or not) this is 9 down in the last over!

Northants beat Leics by just 2 runs as well -

Saw the Finn leave on sky last night and thought exactly the same. The lads got 8 fer at that point including several LBWs surely you'd be keeping an eye out.
