I feel like i need to justify the $700 price tag.  Alrighty then.
1 . It's a unicorn. 2.8 and 10 perfect straight grains
2. Aftermarket customization. The tungsten on there will set you back $60 if you were to buy it in-store. Add to that the expertise required to fit it. I get paid $90 an hour for every hour or part thereof to perform the same customization work on tennis racquets.
3. Shoe goo on the toe. Not sure that such a quantum improvement can even have a monetary value assigned to it.

I could go on but i think it's becoming abundantly clear that $700 is the buy of the decade.

Rather than be a smart (No Swearing Please) how about educating us plebs

Tungsten tape in tennis is used much like a counter balance handle in cricket... to change the balance. By changing the balance you help an individual find the sweetspot where there are variations between individuals in how they like a bat/ racket to feel how they play different shots etc.

Adding mass to the edge will also change the MOI about the handle axis to change the feel of the bat twisting on off centre shots and change the feel but that again has nothing to do with sweetspot size

Neither is increasing the size of the sweetspot but it is always good to be educated if you have stumbled across something

I get paid to talk about this stuff. Seriously.

Lets start with 3 questions.

1. In relation to the impact between bat and ball and the energy involved in that collision what is the goal of the bat maker/designer?
2. What be the effect of using a theoretical cricket bat which had infinite torsional stability.
3. What was the theory behind the original scoop design?

While the goal of counterbalancing is the manipulation of the balance point that is most often not the goal when we are customizing rkts.
Rkt customization is concerned primarily with manipulating swingweight. The balance point may or may not change with a change in swingweight. The addit I n of weight affects weight balance and swingweight. Depending on the amount of weight to be added, the rkts stsrting specs and the goal specs it is often not possible to match all 3. In this case swingweight and weight take priority over balance.
Also while we are talking about counterbalancing im going to call shenanigans on it.

Same question as before, how does any of that increase the sweetspot size which is what you claim.

I can see what your are aiming for but it has nothing to do with sweetspot size. By your logic it is a bit like saying a thick oval handle increases sweetspot size

Weighted tape on the edge is daft but if you feel you get a benefit then its done its job

I think most people will also see claiming this edge tape adds $60+$90/hr to the value of a bat for what is but theres a bit OT
First things first. The 60 plus 90 is tongue in cheek. Read the rest of that post for the context.

Lets forget about the 3 questions to start with and concentrate on the first question.

1. In relation to the impact between bat and ball and the energy involved in that collision what is the goal of the batmaker?

It's more misleading as the tape is fitted under the bumper strip so the main components of the service is the restring, not the tape fitting

Can you expand on that?

You will never get 700au for it.

Let's call it a deal at 550au plus postage  :)

I can see what your are aiming for but it has nothing to do with sweetspot size. By your logic it is a bit like saying a thick oval handle increases sweetspot size or a heavier bat of the same profile has a larger sweetspot.

The logic i have suggested does not allow one to conclude that a thicker handle increaeses sweetspot size.

A heavier bat doesnt have a larger sweetspot?
Are you sure about that?

Hmmm... I agree that the change in swing weight will affect the performance of the bat itself. That's mostly down to user preference though, F=ma means that if he swings a 2.11 bat as quickly as a 2.8, then there will be an increase in performance. As to increasing the sweetspot size, most likely, again, to do with the swing weight etc.

If you're going merely by tapping a ball up and testing the 'ping', then I don't think the tungsten tape really makes a difference, but then again, I've never tried anything like this out.
