Fatty Batting - a purists guide to 'proppa' batting
« on: April 05, 2017, 08:15:46 AM »

Well, against my better judgement, I thought I'd post this here for your delectation / astonishment / giggling.

Last night Buzz and I had a very brief net in the 'barn of terror', a poorly lit outhouse with an uneven concrete floor and a bowling machine off 17 yards. Sadly, Buzz makes batting in there look easy - for those of us with limited talent, it poses a little more of a challenge!!

Anyway, I thought I'd post the link here to make @WalkingWicket37 look good and to show some of you youngsters the benefits of 'rustic' batting.

I welcome any comments (this should be interesting), but please don't offer too much technical advice such as 'come through the ball straighter', 'point your hips more to mid-wicket' and all that nonsense, because like the strange kid at the back of classroom - it simply won't compute. Plus I'm not trying to be Geoffrey B - I am simply working on blocking it or mashing the ass out of it.

ps - for those of you who can't be assed, just watch from 5.20  :D

I have to say Fattus I'm impressed..... Well done

Only thing I would say is just try not to hit so hard... once you back off a bit you hit the ball quite nicely and your front foot is starting to move in the right direction

Yes, the hitting it too hard thing is something I'm trying to reign in. Curiously, the longer I bat, the more I settle down, and the less hard I try to hit it.  So much of this game is in the mind!!!

Back at the barn of doom this evening for another go hopefully.

Might be working on middle and leg stump deliveries.

Might not release any film of that.
