My club have 1 team and 18 players. It's a turn around from the past few seasons where they struggled to put out 11 on a regular basis. I have offered to loan myself out to other teams. So, any team in the Somerset shrubbery league who need a player give me a shout.
On a more positive note, first match Saturday away to minehead. Hoping for a fast (and low) track.

If you get yourself up M1, you can come and play for us. We're 2 short at the moment.

Haha! I believe you may be in Yorkshire?  I couldn't play that far North, my blood would freeze and I would lose my Southern Softie points!

I am however, a 'gun for hire'

If you can describe a fat, bald, middle-aged slow bowler who falls over in the field a lot, as a 'gun'

@FattusCattus a windy and cold Rottingdean away game sound fun? Think we are 1 short.

We are playing their thirds so I dont imagine he will be in that team. But I've always liked fast bowling -faster on faster off, a nurdlers dream.

First game against an actual opposition tomorrow, rather than an intra club game.
I'm doing the teas...

grass roots we  love it. what have you got planned for teas? modern style or traditional. scones? and does anyone still make cucumber sandwiches in the well-off shires?

personally I don't think you can beat a bit of bread and jam on the side with a strong cup of tetleys(other brands available)

I think the thirds play on the old school pitch, which is a lovely track
Jnr may be playing on the main pitch if the ones are at home

First time on since last week.
Started with a good win away at Silkstone who came down last year. First game as skipper, lost the toss and got put in. We made 189 all out, I managed 5, just tried to run one down and nicked off(only thing the keeper caught all day).
Ran in to bowl the first ball and went over on my ankle, Hobbled off at 0-0 came back 5 balls later 15-0. They got off to a decent start, so made a bold decision to bring myself back on to steady things up. Bowling off a few paces ended up with 7-11.

I'm going for something like:

Ham sandwiches
Ham and pickle sandwiches
Cheese sandwiches
Cheese and pickle sandwiches
Coronation chicken sandwiches
Cocktail sausages
Mini sausage rolls
Chicken nuggets
Cheese and tomato pizza
Pepperoni pizza
Onion ring crisps
Frazzles
Chip sticks
Swiss roll
Chocolate roll
Apple pies
Iced cup cakes

I'm looking forward to a morning spent making sandwiches and baking frozen savories!  :D

Nevermind that. You're urgently required on the other thread, I think.

Crikey, that's impressive!
