Played in my first tied game at the weekend.
Playing Penistone, they managed to get 147-8 from their 46, Bowled ok with no reward. Managed to get their best player out just before he got to 50.
We had been going great guns 45-0 from about 9. and then they brought on the slow bowlers. I batted myself at 9, gave others a go and walked in at 97-8 with 8 left. Me and the number 10 managed to scamper a few and i managed to get a few boundaries. He got bowled with an ugly swipe across the line. Needed 12 off 9 balls, Managed to flick their opener over the wall for 6. Trying to protect the number 11 managed to scamper a quick one last ball of the over. First four balls managed to plonk a few to fielders and was turned back. Took the one 5th ball, the number 11 caught one sweet but straight to the field, managed to scamper a two somehow for the tie.

Played against Simon Jones yesterday in a charity game of 5 yards he is still rapido and a bloody top bloke.

My captain was Mark Ramprakash who too is a decent bloke and both made great after dinner speeches which where brilliant.

Facing Jones was the highlight man he still rapido

Bet that was magic, did you get any runs off him?

Fantastic stuff. Played against Alex Tudor 2 years ago, super guy who spent time with us at tea chatting about our cricket. Only got about 15 that day(and some bruised fingers!) but felt great to face a pro, albeit one retired with dodgy knees.

To me he was still pretty quick. Simon Jones might be a different prospect thou!

Thunderstorms predicted for Worcestershire around 2pm tomorrow
We only have 8 players and our lady county bowler is missing but we have won every match so far this season without eleven  so you never know.

Think around 15 before he Jonesy cheated me out he appealed for a leg side wide and the umpire who to be fair may not have seen a quicker bowler and off I trudged

We had a good laugh all in the name of charity.

Seriously sound bloke like a normal bloke who was an I guess still is as good.

He gave his kit to a couple of our lads too

Picked up 4 wickets again today but also got another duck. At least this time it was a decent delivery that got me out and not some filth down the legside.

I still can't buy a run!  :(

Batted first and posted 161-9 off our 42.
Our top scorer only made 29, with plenty of starts with nobody really cracking on.
My contribution was 5 before I got yorked.

At the half way stage we weren't sure 161 was enough, but fear not.

We bowled the opposition our for 80.
Our opening bowler removed the top 3 for not many, and I claimed my second Michelle of the season, with 5-20 off 9.3

After a couple of tough defeats to start the season, we've now won our last 2 games. Hopefully this is the start of things to come!

  • Love a legside stumping.

Just a catch and stumping for me today - bowling first we rolled them for 170 and once our opener had played and missed ever ball for the first two overs, he smacked a quick 70 off for a number of sixes and we ended up winning by 8 wickets with 25 overs gone! One of the sizes did land on the top of someone's brand new BMW, who then decided to walk on to the pitch to discuss this with the opposition's captain!

First game of the season for me today.

Came on to bowl (I'm a Leggie) in the 9th over when the oppo were 80-1, ended with figures on 10-2-35-1 which I'm pretty chuffed with considering I've not bowled since last September and the oppo had a road to bat on.

Batting it was like somebody had taken a scarifier to the wicket, balls suddenly started popping and worm burning! I managed to get a very scratchy 20 which was worth a good 50-60.

We unfortunately ended up about 30 short but was nice to get out in the middle again.

Done my ankle ligaments for the 5th time in 2 years so have been reduced to watching for the last two weeks. I don't think its a coincidence that both my teams are yet to lose a game in my absence!  :D

My Saturday team won for the first time this season last week and followed it up with another win today.
My Sunday team won for the first time last week and are looking strong for tomorrow

Think i might be a curse  :o

Team had a good win yesterday, no thanks to my efforts
A ridiculously green striped? Wicket
Does my head in , tons of grass on it and spongy as hell.
Anyway
I was out to a young leftie, throwing it,(not that I'm bitter)😡
And bowling wasn't too bad, but didn't take any wickets

Highlight was our opener Ram taking 8!!! For 16
Very very good Yorker bowling, that on that wicket, was perfect.

I don't know what the answer is with someone throwing it, the umpires don't have a clue, and the league doesn't want to know, even when photographic evidence is supplied etc
I might wait for the return fixture and wait for him to come out to bat, and demonstrate his bowling action to him?

Anyway
Got another new match bat from the legendary bat guru, mr Hosk , it's a a lovely b3!
Was a bit miffed with my batting yesterday, and on getting home, promptly took the orbital sander to the bat,(gotta blame something for my lack of ability!)
Managed to shave an ounce off and it now picks up beautifully
No excuses now ho hum

Got well and truely mugged yesterday. Oppo somehow prepared a wet wicket and gambled on winning the toss. Quite how they got the wicket as wet as it was is a mystery, even if it had been from the day before it would of still be partially dry and with no rain on saturday it smacks of a watering cockup. Even worse if it hard been a monsoon they have covers and left them off! Anyway the 2.5 hour round trip to play on a wet popping, stopping wicket and to be bundled out for 98 wasn't  much fun. Oppo, predictably knocked it off for 1 down on a dryer surface. Complete waste of time, though I did grind out 46*.
