Advice on how to perfect the leg glance.
« on: January 29, 2010, 06:09:17 PM »

I dont seem to have a problem in playing the shot to a low full toss, but how do those of you who play the shot well avoid poor timing and have the ball spooning up off the leading edge.

I have practised the shot in a shadow batting stylee and I appreciate more practice in the nets will help. Just wondering if anyone has a certain training technique that may help.

I guess if you are getting leading edges consistently you are closing the face to early or trying to hit too square.

Try playing with a straighter bat and aim towards mid on/ mid wicket, once perfected, try hitting it squarer thereafter.

This is classic! They are trying to make a nice professional clip, but the people doing the demo are dressed in jeans and jumpers!!
And the niether guy demonstrating is particularly fluent!! It made me giggle anyway!!

I think that video demonstrates how to become prone to LBW decisions!

Sounds like your falling over the shot, alo dont try and close the face too early. i used to have this problem.

Try and hit it straighter than where you roughly want the ball to go to, this will help

thanks for all you're advice peeps. i think trying to play it a little straighter will help. I presume that tucking a leg stump ball off the legs has a similar approach?

i would say the same, keeping the face open for as long as possible using the angle of the delivery to hit the ball into the leg side
