Gunn and Moore pro bats
« on: May 06, 2017, 08:25:31 AM »

Anyone had one and know the tell-tale signs? Just come across one purporting to be a players' bat, only signs I can see really are a different shape to off the shelf and initials under the grip, with 30 next to it (assuming 30th bat they made for him, maybe?)
Cheers for any help

Also looks like twine has been removed and replaced with tape, and there feels like something's been added to the handle to make it super-oval

That's a Trescothick hallmark too, although the initials obviously don't line up.

Not sure on a way to check who made it. I believe GM do, but have also heard of them to seize players bats if they've been sold.

Cheers Tom, thought a few ex-GM lads now working at another bat makers may have been able to shed some light on it. Re: seizing, how legally sound is that since it's been legitimately bought by me? Not particularly worried, more curious!

Also, I'm sure I read somewhere on here with joe Root's bats, maybe, that they have initials and a number to say how many bats made for the player?

Some players contracts state that they need to return the bats as the brand retains ownership (or something to a similar effect). Sounds like your bat is rather old now, so wouldn't worry too much.
