Kit watch 2017
« on: May 07, 2017, 02:28:08 PM »

I don't think there's been a kit watch thread started for 2017 yet so here goes.

Last weekend one of the opposition openers was wearing Blank Bats pads and using a nice Salix AJK bat.

Yesterday the opposition was made up of more "experienced" players.
One of the openers was using an SS Jumbo (very well, he made 75!) and I spotted an Open Championship on the boundary which presumably belonged to one of the opposition who got a DNB.

In my side one of the younger lads is now a Phantom FKW. I've never been a big fan of their graphics and I can't say seeing them in the flesh has changed my opinion of them. My (possibly controversial) verdict - Nice bit of wood, awful stickers...

And finally, our left handed opener was wearing right handed pads... Village

Your left handed opener wearing right handed pads has nothing on our left handed number 3 deciding to bat right handed

the opener last week had a FUNKY bat, he made 40.

Didn't play this week, but I did see a rather nice BLACK SWAN bat.

Lot of RPC and blueroom gear last week, this week some matching AJK softs.

Got pounded for a 50 from a wk batsman this week from a GM fcw!

On a pitch that stayed unpredictably low it was nice to see an old school Mjolnir keeping the oppo's (ACC) batting together. It was unusual to see a B3 over here. It was a custom but unfortunately the lad had spec'd a ST profile which is too nose heavy for him. There was also an MMi3 on show. I'd seen the lad before and knew he could bat. Unfortunately his innings consisted of one block, one ball he creamed over long on (sounded even better than it looked) then out plumb lbw. Shame, I wouldn't have minded him batting a little longer.

One of the oppo had a 3 stripe B3. But it was a custom one. He had no idea what shape it was. He scored a good 70 odd all in vain though.  :D

Saw one of the old Puma Ballistics, the one with green stickers. An Ayrtek also made an appearance, that guy automatically became my favourite opposition member. :D Quite rare to see them around these parts. :)

On Saturday i saw a proper old school M&H. Old stickers, low middle, looked like it weighed tonnes and had lashings of oil in it. Anything full to the guy he just smashed with it/took a swipe at  :D

I also used my new Choice Cricket gear for the 1st time. Really impressed with the pads and gloves. Not quite a FKW yet as the bats not fully knocked in yet!  :o

Opposition opener at the weekend was using a grade 3 Redback Paradox that went like a rocket!

That's nothing mate:

I played in a game two years ago where the right handed number three played in left handed maroon batting pads in a two day game... That comp didn't play in any colour clothes....

To make it worse, our bowlers kept feeding balls to his strong zone and let him get a hundred!
