Anyone knows how to calculate swing weight of a cricket bat?

Do you normally measure the swing weight of your bat or just go by feel? What about the balance point?

I think bat makers should include those two factors in the bat specs.

It is all about feel/confidence at stance. Not sure if any measure would give you more confidence at the crease - maybe help narrow down candidates when purchasing remotely if that is the intent.

Funny thing is that someone had sent me the instruction via "message" and I deleted the message (which now I regret).

Guys, regarding "feel" and other non-quantifiable factors, they are so subjective that they are pretty much useless. What one man finds a trampoline, another finds a dud. We, as consumers, would have far less problems if bat specs are standardized. Having standard swing weights and balance points will give buyers better specs about a bat and make bat buying process easier.

Tend to do both feel followed by weight the key is knowing what works for you.

As an experiment you could ask the same question to B3 and see what bat you end up with

Yes - we have got a system in the showroom that accurately measures swing weight ;-)

A low middle, low mass bat could have the same "swing weight" as a high middle higher mass bat but they will feel wildly different.

Completely disagree - we have show that a bats with similar "swing weights" (MOI) pick up the same. We have also conducted research that has measured the ability to differentiate between different swing weights and found this to be in between 10 - 15% of MOI.

That doesn't make it irrelevant - everyone will have an optimum MOI for maximum COR (ball rebound)

No physical measurement of bats in the showroom. But you are right this can be done from the CAD model also.

Anyway to do this at home? Your showroom is too far - different country, different continent.
