The last of its kind
« on: May 18, 2017, 12:06:05 PM »

I spoke recently to GN about acquiring the lightest Halestorm they had, as i had a forum member asking for one. I said it was unlikely to find one around 2'10 as per their request, although there have been a handful of examples at this weight.

GN confirmed they had one left at 2'10 and a half, with the rest of remaining stock all around 2'14 and no plans for anymore, presumably due to the impending bat regulations.

This bat is already sold to a lucky forum member, but i thought i would share the photos with you all. Apologies @Calzehbhoy - this was not available when we discussed a lighter Halestorm recently, glad you got a nice one from VKS though :)

Stunning bat, superb for the weight. Wish I had got one of these at this weight earlier now I hear there is no more left. Really impressed with my GN bats this season

Surprising news considering what a GN representative said to me earlier in the year

To clarify, when i said 'no plans for any more' that means for the 2017 season. They may well continue with the Halestorm model next season but it will have to change as currently it will fall foul of the regulations coming in on Oct 1st. We've seen GN Aus doing something similar with their range of big bats retaining the same/similar names but being toned down in size.

Manufacturers are saying they won't be able to produce such bats after October. How enforceable this is i don't know but we've seen GN in Aus already tone down their big bats.

@objcpp the edges are 46/47mm

@Ayrtek Cricket we've got a grand total of 5 sofas currently :)

Just to follow up on this now i've seen what the ranges will be for 2018 from GN, I will be seeing actual samples in the coming days, the Halestorm name continues (albeit in a new family, not the Predator) but i suspect it won't be as big as the ones we have seen this year.

I enjoy this time of year, seeing next seasons stuff all the time, unable to share much of what i see/hear until September time unfortunately but i will always let you know about anything that is OK to be discussed :)

Hales's actual bat is lighter than this, I think.

@Vitas Cricket  - off topic slightly, are GN continuing the Nemesis?
