Pet excuses
« on: May 25, 2017, 01:59:38 PM »

Doug Bracewell's blamed his recent shenanigans on a dead parrot. Suppose it beats Graeme Swann's cat. Anyone got any other VIZ suitable stories about cricket's top excuses?

I was practicing my spin bowling while walking the dog yesterday, and felt something ping in the back of my left knee, limping a lot today.  And the bloody dog didn't fetch the ball, just ignored it and walked off

When Tammie was a puppy she went through a phase of chewing up anything that she could get hold of.
That included my pair of Chase 175 batting gloves... D'oh

It's a common thing here for outgoing batsmen to tell the ingoing guy that the bowling's (No Swearing Please), even though they had just been dismissed by it. Always amuses me.

I'm sure there was an english test player who missed a test ( 70s/80s) due to falling off/out of his desk chair in his hotel room . I'm sure I vaguely remember Gower, or someone similar,  recalling the story .

Fair enough excuses for your first time offences, but I read somewhere this was Bracewell's third time of being caught drink driving?

It was Derek Pringle whilst stuffing envelopes with tickets for his mates. Slept on the floor to cure it and made it worse!
