Don't hunts do customs for less than this where you can go and see the bat being made?

They do indeed, bloody good day out it was too!

Yep, substantially less through @Vitas Cricket I believe - there isn't a better value bat on the market IMO

Isn't Ganador where the Hobbit's escaped from - you know, where that big dragon lived?

Or is it Geordie for 'going outdoors'?

I think £240 is asking quite a lot for these.

I am a master of understatement....

It depends on how soft the pressing was to begin with.

I have just interviewed the person responsible for knocking the bats in for IJC!
I did ask him why did the bats end up with so many dents but he just kept repeating the same word...."SMASH"

The softer pressed bats do dent more easily. I have two bats I'm knocking in and one does looks much more dented than the other. No real difference to the knocking in method. I would say the bats need more knocking in until the dents merge into a nearly flat face.

I have been away at uni, so not involved with IJC at all for a few weeks, too busy revising (finally finished today thank god!)

Having spoken to Paul about them, he assures me they are handpicked to the usual standards. TBH the one with 16 grains may officially be a G2 but that's nonsense. It's more like £240 for a G1 or a G1+ with that particular one.

Concaving not for me at all, but it does allow them to be big and light - which a lot of customers like. We are the more educated on the forum about bats and such, but many customers just want the thickest edge, lightest bat. It's more a reflection of the market than it is Paul/IJC team.

We will be stocking their helmets soon - lowest starts at £35 from memory, so a decent value adult helmet, for the club bag or something similar.

As for knocking in - can't comment. Haven't knocked in a bat for years, did far too much of that age 16!

Any further questions, let me know - and good luck this weekend, hope the weather holds for everyone!

Agreed, as Nick says, surely the point is to knock all the softer willow evenly, so whilst the face won't be perfectly even it shouldn't have any major dents.

A properly knocked in bat should have as even a surface as possible and not leaving peaks and troughs (albeit small ones).

The surface of the bat should still be as flat as when it was new, just a bit lower in height after the willow has been compressed.
