If you get off a professional player then I am sure one can say with such certainty that it is an actual pro bat...

Not unless the pro is off loading a bat he simply don't like. Which is probably the case. And quite possibly was never a pro bat at all :p

  • Two 4's are better than a 6!

Makes sense but when anyone hears pro they cannot resist.  ;)

Its interesting that whenever someone mentions that they have bought a bat meant for a Pro, everyone on the forum is heel bent on proving otherwise. Its not as if the forum members are being asked to shell out money for the bat :D.

If I write my name on the bottom of my bats, does that make me a pro too?

In your case i think you'd have to write your name on the , ur.... edge ?

Writing "edge" on the toe might lull the opposition in to a false sense of security that you aren't the sharpest :)

 :D :D

3rd funniest line ever read in CBF.  :D

Another "Pro" bat available to the public....

You've had them. What's wrong with other shops having them? And by the way, this is the only one that TheOnlineStockist has...

It is available to the public when its sent off to a shop!

Everyone's been extremely biased on this thread. I love how there's all this negativity whenever someone gets a pro bat. The ping will tell me everything.

I don't tolerate nonsense so I'm sure I know about the bat.

For example, when Shax12 got his friend one of Sangakkara's actual bats (you could tell by the ultra-rare 7-star-only sticker), people started to take the mickey. I mean...
Please.

I've got one of Tendulkar's real MRF bats. I think I know a pro bat when I see it. I've also got one of Kohli's special match bats as well, and I'm going to receive one of Steve Smith's CT 2017 match bats once the tournament finishes as I know a bloke who knows him through someone.
The same about the Maximus could be see said for all of the "sharpie" bats that VKS have stocked, all the bats that the CrownCricketer have stocked, all the bats that Cricmart.in have stocked, etc, etc.

What about the time when CricketGearDirect got an SS Platinum Reserve with Sanga's name on it. That certainly wasn't a fake!

I also think that hitting out at the OLS was very unfair and baseless. I've always heard amazing things about them - never a bad word until I put this thread up about what is MOST PROBABLY a top bat.

Ajit didn't say that he had others, just to clarify once again. He said this was the only one that was made for a player that he received for SS. He also said that he doesn't know who this was made for i.e. he couldn't make out the spelling error. He is not that sad...

Anyhow, the ping should tell me everything.

I bought a Maximus from Onlinestockist and I assure you, it didn't live up to the expectations. I was told similar things by Ajit and I bought it. I used it for 10 games and not once I felt like it was a player bat. It is my garage collecting dust.

@TheAllRounder99 I can't wait for the detailed review threads, with plenty of pictures, on each of these pro bats you have!  :)

As for never hearing a bad word about OLS, a quick look on here using the search function...

Here's a thought..maybe its not anyone's name, but an off-the-shelf bat.. most sharpie names don't have any specs next to them (it will just say "sangakkara" without the weight - presumably cuz the batmker knows what specs his pro needs).. So, could this be something as simple as weight + some short hand to define the shape etc ? Maybe its "SH 4N" .. for "short handle and...?

just a wild guess.

I think the idea of putting something like this out in a public domain is to ask for opinions - and to make a big claim such as "this is a pro issue bar" of course there will be a large amount of criticism if there is no supporting eveidence. Plus there is so much flash bang bullshit in the cricket industry and especially in bat sales that everyone on here takes what they are told with a pinch of salt and are somewhat cynical. However this isn't always a bad thing. Ultimately if the buyer is happy with the bat then that's fine but I would be annoyed if I was told it was a pro bat and I received a run of the mill top grade bat. There are many people on the forum that are very close to SS as a brand and if I'm honest as a buyer I would certainly back their opinion over OLS because they are a distinctly average retailer at best. I'd also like to point out that it is becoming incredibly tiresome watching very average retailers write a misspelled name with sharpie on the toe and charge a premium if I went and bought a white glove from Tesco but wrote MJ on it it doesn't mean I can charge millions for it cause it was destined for Michael Jackson
