Cup matches throw some Odd games I've played in a few. Turned up against Sunbury once and they had a few middx and Surrey players playing, miles too good for us. Richard Johnson was in the bar thank god he didn't turn out as well

Have to say thou having read this report massive sympathy for the fielding side with only 9 in that heat.

I'm not sure if the question being asked 'did this game bring the game into disrepute ' which side people will see. Declaring the second innings is it against the rules? I don't think so, and is it against the rules to bat on and on...No again I'm sur about that.

Had I been the batting captain 1st innings would I of declared ? Yes I would. No way I would bat on past 300. Would I of declared the 2nd innings to possible void the game? Maybe I would of done if I was that peed off.

Be interested to see others views, I personally can see no benefit in racking up huge totals against 9 men and a team far far below you in ability.

Cricket I've found over the years for me is pitch yourself in against the best opposition you can, and if you get rinds or wickets the achievement is far greater.

It is interesting because in the below article offers a couple more opinions and states that they didn't declare because

"If the lads had been out for 120 or 130, we might have declared, but they are young lads and were on the cusp of doing something special, of breaking league records � a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity � and you don't declare when someone's 195 not out."

For me Brighouse had every right to declare after 1 ball as it sounds like they were taking a lot of stick and 500 is just ridiculous against 9 men (incl 6 fasting).

Then to declare with 3 balls to spare just takes the piss really.

Yes I see it the same as you, I read the part some of the fielding side(only 9 anyway) were fasting

I'm not sure how many of the forum play with Asian team mates that observe Ramadan, I'm in a team with about 7 that do....it's very very tough to do that in serious heat in a normal game let alone chasing 500. I wasn't here so I can't say, but I can guess the crowd were on the fielding sides back.it sounds pretty unpleasant.
