Gray Nicolls XP70 850
« on: July 04, 2017, 03:08:20 PM »

I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with the Australia Gray Nicolls bats and like a high middle bat so when I saw a XP70 for sale on here I took the plunge
Weight is 2.9 bang on and although not heavy in weight the pick up is superb, lovely skinny oval handle as well. Edges are only 30mm so small in today's HUGE bat world but when in the hands fills me with confidence.
This is G2 and has a lovely clean blade with 6 mainly straight and even grains, personally I prefer 6-8 grains as opposed to lots of tight grains always have.
Started knocking her in and I must say performance seems amazing, I thought my UK made GN was good but this could well be next level. Seems all I have heard about how good Aus GN bats are is true.

"Handcrafted in Australia" sticker on the handle top and a Stamped A on the back can confirm the country of manufacture.

I've had a few Aussie made GNs in the past (a couple of the XXXs) and now the two XP80s and they have all been well made, and pinged like a trampoline. And with these high middled monsters, I'm finding they seem to suit me, which was quite a large surprise given where I thought I hit the ball...

I may be wrong, but I thought the XP70s made in India?

Sticker on the back states made in Australia and has AU stamp on shoulder, no idea if that means Australian or Indian made. Maybe I'm very lucky to have a Uk made GN already and now an Australian GN either way this is a cracking bat

I actually bought it from a fellow forum member @dcullen8 as I saw it listed on eBay and bought through him, don't like buying blind so was an ideal purchase
