My first B3 - LE
« on: July 07, 2017, 03:23:42 PM »

I bought this bat 4 months ago (as part of 25% NA discount sale). Thanks to Tom for helping me out with all the questions and the cleft selection. This has turned out to be one of the best bat purchases I have ever made. Pickup and balance on this bat is fantastic. It pings excellent.

Specification:

Profile: Shan
Weight: 2 lbs 9.5 oz  2 lbs 9.1 oz
Edge Size: 39 mm
3 Stripes LE
9 grains
Oval Handle

All of my bats were in 2/11+ range (not sure why I chose to go with the heavy bats in the first place) until I made this purchase.

My only complaint about B3 is their price; particularly shipping cost to the USA (GBP of 40 something just for the bat). My recent purchases from other manufactures has almost convinced me that there's no need to spend more than $250-300 for a cricket bat. However, it did not convince me enough to cancel my pending Crown order, which I placed as soon as I had got this LE delivery. But I still think that $550 or something for a bat is pointless - at least, considering my use case.

I am still working on the Crown order (almost same spec); I will post the pictures once I receive it.

You won't regret a crown! Just don't expect it to be as clean looking as a 3 stripe LE. Crowns are crowns because of density, not looks and grains. When i was in 2 weeks ago, they had about 6 crown clefts, none were what you would call lookers, but all stupidly light. Although there was one with straight grains and a nice streak of heartwood down the right hander's inside edge. That was about a 350 cleft if i remember rightly.

Lovely bit of wood! Profile looks cracking too.

What density was that one out of interest?

Cant go wrong with a top end B3 bat. @objcpp How u compare the ping with your RS bats. To me B3 always felt slightly harder off the mallet compared to Indian/Pakistan made bats.

I did not get the specifics then, I believe that the crown one is 348 or something.
