Telegraph Top 8 Bats Article
« on: August 01, 2017, 04:45:02 PM »

Hi all,

Just a bit of fun - a customer of ours put us in touch with a journalist for the Telegraph who was looking to do a piece on the 8 "best" bats for this season, including some maybe more under the radar picks.

Anyway, here it is http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/body/seven-best-cricket-bats-2017/

See what you think!

So is this the top bats of 2017, but only of brands stocked by IJC and no other brands??

Maybe he can only comment on what he has or does use?

Lazy journalism though

You can't blame him for commenting only on the bats he stocks. I think many people on this forum have given him a hard time.   Who could give a 'whole market' view in any case?

Nice work to get the article and plug something different. Not sure there is need to criticise a personal selection.

^ Agreed, unnecessary criticism.

The headline is "Seven of the best bats for 2017" not claiming they're the top seven, and it's an opinion and a nice bit of exposure for some very good smaller brands

Shouldn't be a massive surprise that Paul Cole's favourite bat brands of 2017 are ones he sells? Would only actually have been controversial if his top 7 had been full of Gunn and Moores ha.

These articles are always a bit of a joke anyway tbh, but given there must be some poor goons out there who do actually view them as consumer advice it is good to see brands like Chase/Viking in there rather than the usual list of £400+ big brands.

Good exposure, shame the buy now links don't go to IJC's site for the ones you sell though

Yes, the journalist asked us for in our opinion and experience the best few. We haven't seen / handled enough SF, GM, or any other brands we don't stock to give a fair representation, hence we stuck to what we know. Tried to give a bit of variety, which is why you have top end sticks like the Dark Ed. as well as Chase R4 for example. Theme was bats we know well and manufacturers (mostly English) that we want to support!
