Sibley to Warwickshire
« on: August 03, 2017, 01:22:00 PM »

Seems odd with sanga retiring but he must think chances are still reduced staying at Surrey
Don't seem like a very good move to me on the face of it

By the looks of it he has assurances from Warwickshire that he will bat in the top 3 in all formats for them which is probably quite attractive for him wanting to further his career.

Will he get another game for Surrey this season? He hasn't been named in the squad for the t20.Yet another promising young player slips through Surrey's fingers.

Good move for the Bears but a strange decision from Surrey. I know that Surrey have plenty of resources but I'm not sure on the logic of letting him go.

I think he made demands they weren't willing to acquiesce to, so off he goes.

He's promising, but I'm reliably informed there's half a dozen other 'wonderkids' not even getting a regular game in their seconds, being farmed out to clubs like Guildford.

Looks like another opportunity for someone else.

I'm pretty sure he wants to be an opening batsman and wants regular first team cricket in that role.

The Stoneman and Borthwick signings can't have made him feel like he owes Surrey any loyalty.

I expect Surrey are annoyed because he was the chosen one, to an extent and they have invested in him since he was 12. Very little return on that for their time, effort, and cash.

There are plenty of guys who should get a go in the seconds but don't. I wouldn't say farming people out to Guildford is a good thing the way the club is going

Yes, that makes sense - 12 years of investment, my mistake.

Is Sibley the one who got a double ton against Yorkshire at 16/17? or am I thinking of someone else?

I'm sure it's the same guy.you can never tell with young players but he has serious potential to go far .

I don't suppose Sanga would play on another year would he?

Here's a question for you knowledgeable folk- who was the last Surrey homegrown player to play test cricket for England?
