It is not unlikely that Sibley would have had a better season than Borthwick at no. 3.  They have scored a similar amount of runs, with Sibley having the slghtly better average.

But it's easy to say such things in hindsight. Borthwick came off the back of some rich form at Durham.

And there is a third Curran...! Plus there is the Baron.

So we may get the cheque book out, for another good overseas player, but Surrey will look to bring through some home grown talent too.

If that's correct Buzzfeed and I'm sure you are right , the quick move with Riki Clarke may work out well, Clarke is a very good cricketer.

I don't think myself if it's true any player should dictate where they bat , I'm sure he wants to play more games

If I was Sibley, and I've never been close to anything other than decent level club cricket, I would be thinking about the benefits at Surrey which are Alec Stewart, Thorpe and the amazing Sanga....if your a young player three very experienced test players right there capable of assisting development.How valuable are those being at the club...

No doubt this lad is talented, as I said in my early post thou....can't see on the face of it this is a good move.

Dead right about their wealth of youth talent with Jacks, Patel and Virdi all playing well for the England u19s as well as Pope and Sam Curran already in the side there's no doubt about the youth Surrey have at their disposal. Also some very promising u17s still in the academy.

He's 35 (nearly 36) now so getting on a bit (in professional cricketing terms, at least)

He was picked for England too early and never really flourished in the international stage which is a shame really.

That said he averaged 32 with the bat (top score 55) and 15 with the ball in Test cricket!

His last Test was in 2003 Vs Bangladesh
His last ODI was in 2006 Vs Pakistan

Hey, what about Bradley Erasmus? I believe he played in the 1st XI of the school he went to, Whigift, which is really good at all sports, at like the age of 11?

Haven't heard any news on him for a while now. He's moved clubs quite a bit as well. Sunbury ---> Guildford ---> Chertsey.

I've had a couple of acquaintances that knew him. Would've expected him to be in the 1st XI at Surrey by now...

Not sure he's playing at Surrey anymore, think he left either last year or the year before. I also believe he's still playing club cricket for Guildford.
