My understanding was that Brathwaite was given a gun of a new scoop, but wasn't expected to use it. In fact it was a surprise he used it.
I didn't notice any odd noise yesterday at the ground, but then he didn't hang about!

Some people may be money driven, some ego driven(I can play with anything mentality)

But personally I don't believe many players would be going into the 3rd test, when at 1-1 and taking in an experimental bat they've never used before, just because they've been offered abit of extra cash to get it on the telly.

Why risk your game?

They don't have to use them, Im just saying they do get offered extra to use certain things and Id say that all the GN sponsored players would have the option of using this scoop with extra money attached. Like you say though he must think its good enough for that level or why risk it for a few bob.

They (GN sponsored players) must get the opportunity in certain years to try experimental bats and if they actually like them then great: Kawaja XP80, Billings Nemesis, Brathwaite scoop, Warner with that smaller edge large spine bat he had etc.

with the new bat regs coming in players can no longer use a big edge/spine bat to be  eye catching... so g.n players using scoops or similar is all they have left. its not like any viewers will be saying " oh wow, look at so and so, he's using a 60mm spine /40 mm edge /mid middle bat . how left field and innovative "!
I'm  not saying players have/will use a bat just to grab attention for the sponsor. just saying that the sponsor cant capture attention with average , icc conforming , bog standard bats.

Found this description of perimeter weighting in gold clubs, have enerv actually managed to find any evidence online though. Not saying it doesn't work in theory, but I like cold hard proof!

The Scoop is arguably the greatest bat of all time. It wouldn't have been used by such an array of world stars if it had no driving power as a result of the scooping. This re-imaging saves some weight in the toe and splice area, but otherwise offers the same perimeter weighting system as the original.
